Naughton beats Wyatt to win re-election

CLINTON -- State Rep. Harold Naughton, Jr., D-Clinton, will hold onto the 12th Worcester state representative seat for an 11th term after defeating Republican challenger Brad Wyatt Tuesday.

Results are still coming in, but Wyatt called Naughton to concede the race shortly after 9 p.m. Naughton won Clinton, 2,708 to 1,550, while Wyatt won his hometown of Boylston 1,167 to 807. With results from Berlin still unaccounted for, Naughton's campaign estimates the results will be about 7,600 to 6,200.

The 12th district includes Clinton, Lancaster, Sterling, Boylston, Northborough and Berlin. Naughton has represented the district since 1995.

An attorney by trade, Naughton is also a major in the Army Reserves.
